Green List Travel!
After more than 18 months of uncertainty in the chauffeur industry and with airport transfers starting to resume to some form of ‘normality’, we thought it was time to see how things were operating for ourselves and headed off on a short break.

It was very early on Monday morning (3am in fact!) when our chauffeur driven Mercedes V Class arrived, and safely transported us down to Heathrow Terminal 5 for our trip to Gibraltar.

Gibraltar has been on the green list for some time now and our trip had been planned for a few months hoping that this would not change, and thankfully it did not. We have visited before and love it!

As Gibraltar was on the green travel list we did not have to do any testing prior to leaving the U.K. but had to pre-book our day 2 test and have our booking reference numbers to hand for our return passenger locator form. The cost of these tests was £45 per person. We also had to complete our outbound passenger locator form online prior to travel.

On arrival at Heathrow We were swiftly checked in and cleared security without any issues and found breakfast nearby before heading out to our gate via the airport transit system.

On boarding the British Airways flight, staff were friendly, the plane was clean and our departure was prompt. Crew and passengers were all wearing masks and we were reminded to do so via the public address system.

The short flight (2hrs 25mins) went quickly with a complimentary snack and water on board and We arrived in Gibraltar at around 10.45am.

Once We had cleared passport control (very efficient, 20 minutes) and collected any luggage, We headed straight to the mandatory covid test centre outside the airport.
Every person arriving in Gibraltar must take a lateral flow test within 24 hours of arrival, and again after 5 days if remaining in the country this long. We were only visiting for 2.5 days so had pre booked our lateral flow test for return to U.K (£30pp) which could be done at the same time as our arrivals test (if in the country less than 72 hours). The queue was lengthy having had two flights arrive at the same time and the whole process took around 1.5 hours. The test itself was fine, just a light nasal swab and then the results (thankfully negative) were received by text and email within 30 minutes along with our return ‘fit to fly’ certificate.

We spent our time in Gibraltar doing various things including restaurants, bars, hotels and shops and felt safe everywhere we went, with masks only mandatory in all shops.

Arriving back at Gibraltar airport for our departure flight, We we’re once again quickly checked in, staff ensured that We all had our test certificates and locator forms (completed online during our trip) and We were good to go.

The flight was again trouble free and British Airways staff were very friendly and helpful, as they always have been on the flights we have taken.

Arriving in Heathrow, it was straight to the passport E Gates, then to collect luggage and the whole process from landing to being collected by our chauffeur to head back to Northampton took around 40 minutes, a very quick disembark indeed.

Our Day 2 tests were carried out and posted, with the negative results received by email within 24 hours.

Although travelling might seem quite daunting at the moment and depending where you at heading to, We found green list travel very easy, even though the paperwork and testing processes can be a bit of a process, it is well worth it to be able to get away on holiday.
